Nestled in the heart of Brianza, just 20 minutes from the city of Como, Golf Club Carimate was part of a pioneering residential project that reimagined the relationship between living and leisure — long before golf resorts became a trend.
Opened in 1962 within the 60-hectare centuries-old park of the Carimate Castle, the course was designed by Engineer Piero Mancinelli, who completed the first nine holes in the same year, followed by the second nine in 1965. In 1989, Mancinelli was called upon once again to oversee a major modernization project, which was completed in 2007. The result is an 18-hole, par 71 course measuring 6,021 metres, set on naturally undulating terrain and winding through a rare botanical heritage of over 10,000 mature trees. Each fairway is framed by high vegetation, offering a sense of intimacy, rhythm, and immersion in nature.
The layout is varied and luminous, with more pronounced elevation changes on the front nine and smoother contours on the back nine. It’s a course that rewards finesse and thoughtful play, making it enjoyable for both seasoned golfers and those looking for a scenic challenge.
What truly sets Golf Club Carimate apart, however, is its architectural soul. The Club House, completed in 1962, was designed by renowned Italian architects Vico Magistretti and Guido Veneziani — a masterpiece of modernist architecture in harmony with the surrounding landscape. The multi-volume structure follows the land’s natural contours, reducing its visual impact while creating fluid, light-filled interiors. Inside, large glass walls open onto panoramic terraces, and every detail tells a story — from the worn floors marked by golf shoes to the dominant white and red palette that echoes the iconic “Carimate Chair”, with its vermilion wooden frame and straw seat, now a design classic.
In recent years, the club has undergone further renovations, including a sensitive expansion of the Club House by architect Gregorio Caccia Dominioni, reinforcing Carimate’s identity as a place where heritage and modernity coexist.
Open year-round, Golf Club Carimate offers top-tier services including a driving range, putting and pitching greens, golf cart rental, tennis courts, a swimming pool, pro shop, bar and a refined restaurant. More than just a golf destination, it is a cultural and natural retreat — where every round is enriched by the beauty of the place and the quiet elegance of Italian design.
