Spread at 1,027 metres above sea level in the heart of the Belluno Pre-Alps and founded in 1958, the Cansiglio Golf Club is one of Europe’s finest mountain courses. This 18-hole course is set within Italy’s second-largest forest and stretches across 80 hectares of rolling highland terrain, surrounded by majestic beech and fir trees.
Originally designed by renowned English architect John Harris, the course reflects a true links spirit. It follows the natural undulations of the land, embracing the karstic features of the plateau—such as sinkholes and dolines—without altering the landscape. The result is a captivating and challenging course that offers a unique blend of technical variety and alpine beauty.
The Cansiglio Golf Club is officially recognised by the Italian Golf Federation for its commitment to biodiversity conservation. With its cool and healthy mountain climate, it offers a refreshing alternative to traditional lowland golf courses—especially appreciated during the summer months.
Its rich history began as the Golf Club Vittorio Veneto, founded by a group of passionate friends who secured 40 hectares of land from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Initially featuring nine holes and a ski lift, the course grew over the decades. Despite facing political, cultural, and financial challenges, the expansion to 18 holes was finally completed in 1996, with architect Marco Croze ensuring a respectful evolution of Harris’s original vision.
The course today offers a variety of memorable holes, each harmoniously integrated into the surrounding alpine scenery. Whether you are a beginner, a seasoned player, or a traveller seeking an unforgettable round in the mountains, Cansiglio Golf Club welcomes you with a unique atmosphere of tranquillity, authenticity, and sportmanship.
